Named Funds
George W. Hansberry, MD Scholarship Endowment Fund
In honor of his life-long devotion to service, the Decatur Morgan Hospital Foundation is pleased to announce the George W. Hansberry, MD Endowed Scholarship Fund. Once established, the Fund will support educational opportunities for those in our community pursuing a medical career.
Throughout his career, Dr. Hansberry believed that better education makes better citizens, and better citizens make better communities. It’s an idea that inspired him to a life of tireless service and constant giving. It’s a dream that cost him much—and earned us everything. And as people inspired by Dr. Hansberry, it is our mission to uphold it.
Join us as we continue his legacy for generations to come. Pledge your gift now to the George W. Hansberry, MD Scholarship Endowment Fund, and help us further his vision of service through education. With your help, there’s no telling how many lives we might impact. And through their success, we all prosper.
The Lee Lott Breast Health Fund
The Lee Lott Breast Health Fund has raised more than $800,000 to promote women’s health and breast cancer services at Decatur Morgan Hospital. This would not be possible without generous donors.
Decatur native and retired teacher, Lee Lott, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Inflammatory Breast Cancer in July 2009. Lee received all of her treatment at Decatur Morgan Hospital and is cancer-free today. Since that time, Lee has been an advocate for breast health, as well as Decatur Morgan Hospital. The Lee Lott Breast Health Fund was established to support programs that create awareness about breast cancer and to purchase diagnostic equipment and renovations for Decatur Morgan Breast Health Center. This fund also provides patient assistance funding free and discount mammograms to the underserved in our community.
Kantemneni/Richardson Memorial Fund
Dr. V. Babu Kantemneni and former DMH President, Nat Richardson, created this fund in memory and honor of their fathers. This fund will be used to provide new technology and equipment for Decatur Morgan Hospital.
The Wells Clayton Whitworth Memorial Fund
The Wells Clayton Whitworth Memorial Fund was founded in 2018 by Kelley and Chad Whitworth, in memory of their son Wells. Chad and Kelley lost their beautiful son Wells at 39 weeks on June 11, 2018. Through this immeasurable pain and loss, they are now honoring Wells by providing financial assistance for burial and bereavement services for families in need after the loss of a newborn.
When you give to Wells’ Fund, you are directly impacting North Alabama families who are experiencing loss. By covering the cost of burial, we hope to relieve the financial burden for families during such a difficult time.
